In 2006, Hoops of Hope participants raised $85,000 to help build the Johnathan Sim Legacy School in Twachiyanda, Zambia. The school will house 1000 kids and is named in honor of Mr Jonathan Sim who dedicated his life to serving these children. The next closest school like this is over 60 miles away!
Updated October 2007: Construction is done and the school is beautiful. It has two large buildings with several classrooms in each building. It has a new well and teacher houses are under construction. Well over 1,000 people walked miles to attend the dedication ceremony this month. They even made a basketball hoop (they'd never seen basketball before) so they could see how you guys have raised the money! Thank you for giving in 2006. Chief Chikanta told us that education will change the entire village.
